Enveritas Is Hiring a Head of Africa: Lead Sustainable Agriculture Operations Across Africa

Are you an experienced operations leader with a strong understanding of Africa’s agricultural, sustainability, or supply-chain landscape?

Enveritas is looking for a Head of Africa to lead its regional operations and help strengthen sustainable and responsible sourcing practices across the continent.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced professional who can combine strategic leadership, operational excellence, stakeholder management, and sustainability expertise to support Enveritas’ work with smallholder farmers and supply-chain partners.

About Enveritas

Enveritas is a sustainability-focused organisation working to address gaps in traditional certification and verification systems, particularly for smallholder farmers who may be too remote, small-scale, or informally organised to participate in conventional sustainability programmes.

The organisation develops scalable verification solutions that help companies understand sustainability conditions within their supply chains and direct investment towards areas where it can have meaningful impact. Its work has a particular focus on smallholder coffee farmers.

About the Head of Africa Role

The successful candidate will lead Enveritas' operations across its African markets, ensuring that teams, systems, processes, partnerships, and programmes operate effectively and consistently.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Regional Operations Leadership

The Head of Africa will oversee operations across African countries, strengthen standard operating procedures, support scalability, and lead the development and adoption of new operational products and systems. The role will also involve developing strategies to improve operational efficiency and manage costs.

2. Team and Programme Management

The position involves managing teams across different functions, including operations, project management and business operations. The successful candidate will oversee budgets, staffing, workflows and performance while supporting teams to improve efficiency and maintain operational excellence.

3. Stakeholder and Partnership Management

The role will involve managing relationships with key supply-chain partners and representing Enveritas with external stakeholders and regional authorities. Strong relationship-building and communication skills will therefore be important for someone working across diverse African markets.

4. Data, Quality and Client Deliverables

The role also involves overseeing operational processes connected to data, client deliverables, country-level reporting and quality assurance. Experience with survey methodologies, data standards or quality assurance processes would be an advantage.

Who Should Apply?

Enveritas is looking for an experienced professional who meets the following requirements:

  • At least 8 years of experience in operations management
  • At least 3 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-country or multi-team operations
  • Experience working across multiple African countries or markets
  • Experience in agriculture, coffee, sustainability, certification or verification is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong stakeholder-management experience, particularly with corporates, NGOs or supply-chain partners
  • Experience with budgets and P&L or cost/revenue accountability
  • Ability to standardise processes and implement new systems across diverse teams and geographies
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree in business, international development, agriculture, sustainability or a related field is an advantage
  • Fluency in English is required. French, Portuguese, Swahili or another relevant African language is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10–20% within Africa and internationally as required.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

The position sits at the intersection of agriculture, sustainability, responsible sourcing, data and regional operations.

For professionals who have built careers across African markets, the role offers an opportunity to apply their leadership and operational experience to sustainability challenges affecting agricultural supply chains and smallholder farmers.

It is particularly relevant to senior professionals with backgrounds in agribusiness, sustainable agriculture, development, supply-chain management, ESG, certification, verification, or international operations.

Interested candidates should apply through Enveritas' official Greenhouse application process.
